Our Mission

Our Mission

We are driven by our passion to help lift impoverished women out of poverty.  We do this through a robust development program.  At the core of this development program is a shea farm and shea fruit processing factory.  When you buy our products, a portion of every dollar you spend goes toward buying the shea farm and building the factory.

Why are we focused on women?

Well, in the poorest parts of the world, women are still economically disadvantaged compared to men.  This explains why our effort is primarily geared toward helping women, enabling them to play a big role in the full value chain: from nurturing the trees, harvesting the fruits to transforming the fruits into both food products and skin care products and gaining valuable business skills.  That said, we will welcome the collaboration of men to help make it even a greater success.

Why shea?

The shea tree is a wonder tree that grows only in Africa.  Its fruit consists of a thin, nutritious pulp that surrounds a relatively large, oil-rich seed from which shea butter is extracted. The shea tree’s benefits are mind boggling and just to name a few:

  • It has been used for medicine to cure ailments in skin, especially in newborns. Some shea-based pharmaceuticals have even been shown to lower cholesterol.
  • The extract from the leaves has been used to relieve headaches.
  • The fruit has high nutritional value, loaded with Vitamins A and E.
  • The butter is used in chocolate, hair care and skin care. It’s an excellent skin moisturizer, helps the skin retain its natural oils and stimulate collagen production.  It is used to treat many skin problems such as eczema, itching, sunburns, small skin wounds, wrinkles, skin allergies, insect bites, frost bite, and more.

In summary, the shea tree helps promote a quality, healthy, natural lifestyle and offer tremendous opportunities of economic freedom to impoverished women.  Currently, millions of women across Africa are engaged in the collection of shea fruits and production of shea butter but a lot of the shea fruits in the fields go to waste because of the difficulties and dangers involved with current methods.  Our program will allow women to productively and safely collect and process the shea fruits.   So your patronage is very important to help us accomplish our mission, a double whammy: help impoverished women and build a stable and sufficient supply of this great product for the whole world and generations to come.
